City Encourages Development of Smart Products for Senior Use
The city is encouraging the development of smart products that is designed for senior citizens in efforts to deal with the aging population in China. Based on a document that outlines the construction of the industry in supporting the aging population in the next three years doesn’t specify any policies but only outlined the structure of the planned industry.
Using the strength in hardware and biotechnology, the document outline the goals that develop smart devices and services for seniors by 2017 that will generate an estimated income of 10 billion yuan. the document also specifies on the wearable devices that monitors health and the development of care giving services for seniors. It also outlines the creation of a website and app wherein seniors can get information on their health or purchase health related products. The website also deals with products that are designed for seniors such as entertainment equipment, mobile phones to special clothing.
The said plan will also call for all government departments in encouraging the use of products and services that are related to senior health and it also urges the city to attract more large companies in moving to Shenzhen and medium sized corporations in expanding. The number of people that are aged 60 years old and above in China will hit 202 million at the end of 2013 and is said to double by 2050.
