New Hospital to Open on a Trial Basis in Bao’an District
By the end of the month the Southern Medical University Shenzhen Hospital will open on a trial basis in Bao’an district with 1,000 inpatient beds available. The hospital is located near Xin’an Metro and the first stage of construction is said to cost around 1.2 billion yuan. Once open the hospital will have the capacity to treat 8,000 outpatients daily.
A spokesperson for the hospital said that more than 4,000 people have already submitted applications to work in the hospital and among them are 800 with professional titles. Areas outside of the emergency rooms will be open during the hospital’s trial run. The Shenzhen Municipal Government built the hospital after a nationally defined Grade-A hospital standards and its now receiving operating subsidies from the government. It would also be the sixth hospital to be affiliated with the Guangzhou based Southern Medical University, which will also be responsible in operating and managing university.
Party chief of Bao’an District Huang Min stated that residents in the district would benefit once the hospital is fully operational. Huang also said that the district government is applying for housing and educational benefits for the senior staff of the hospital. The hospital can handle 2,000 inpatient and will cover an area of 82,000 square meters once the second stage of the hospital construction is completed.
