Shenzhen is Most Competitive City Based on Internet Related Industries
Shenzhen is ranked the most competitive city in Guangdong based on internet related industries followed by Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan and Zhuhai. The ranking is compiled based on a 2105 data that was released by the Guangdong Internet Information Office and the Guangdong Internet Association.
The report looked at fifteen industries which included e-commerce wherein Guangdong was the most active than the nation average in shopping online in 2015. Data showed that in 2015 Guangdong had e-commerce businesses with sales exceeding 5 billion yuan and 32 e-commerce websites with yearly transaction volumes that reached over 50 million yuan. the report also showed revenues from online games made up 23 percent of the global revenue as Guangdong contributed around 70 percent to the national revenue. In 2015, Guangdong based game companies have surpassed 10 billion yuan with two game companies in the province were the top earners globally.
Zhang Yi the CEO of iMedia Data Corp sated that domestic manufacturers of game machines have gathered in Guangdong and contributed around 9.5 billion yuan in revenues or 98.2 percent of the national market. Zhang’s firm is one of the partners that is responsible for the reports, in which in 2015 he said that traditional game companies are focusing on mobile games that made their industry even more competitive. Zhang also said that intellectual property and cross industry hardware sales are two of the top industries that will profit in the future.
Statistics are showing that internet based food sales also improved with transactions increasing from 9.2 billion yuan in 2010 to 94.6 billion yuan after four years. Guangdong is also one of the first provinces promoting the use of big data apps, then in 2013, 2014 and 2015 Guangdong’s information technology and big data industry contributed 7.85, 8.26 and 10.20 percent of the province Gross Domestic Product.
