Powerboat World Championship at the Shenzhen Bay Inner Lake
The F1 powerboat World Championship will be at the Shenzhen Bay Inner Lake in Nanshan District on October 17 and 18. The Shenzhen Grand Prix is the second leg of the championship’s China Grand Prix. The first leg will be held in Liuzhou on October 6 and 7.
The twenty drivers that will be participating are coming from different countries including China, United States, France, Italy, Russia, and Australia. The venue for the powerboat competition in Nanshan can hold 40,000 spectators and accommodate around 5,000 vehicles.
The China team Swedish driver Pieree Lundin has earned 14 points ans listed at No. 7. The china team will try to enter fifth in the Shenzhen competition. The powerboat race is a rehearsal for the upcoming Universiade games were the city has a good chance in increasing their global presence and demonstrate their capacity to stage world sports events. This is the third time the powerboat event was hosted by the city, and the Shenzhen Bay Inner Lake was chosen for the races. Union Internationale Motonautique will set up their Asian headquarters in the city to promote the said event.
