Metro stations to lower security level
Metro stations around Shenzhen will be lowering the level of their random security check ups. The college students that were hired to be security inspectors will be returning to school but the x ray machines installed will still remain to do random checks.
With the cooperation with the Shenzhen Metro group, Shenzhen police, introduces a high level security check during the Universiade, and will still remain in effect by making all luggage undergo security scanning machines. Inspectors have already confiscated more than 600,000 items in all 118 Metro Station ranging from knives, replica guns and flammable liquids.
The Metro decided to lower the level of the checks since there was a public outcry that the security measures where taking to much of their time because of the long queues.
Guangzhou have already cancelled their security checks in their stations after the Asian Games, and Beijing have already adopted method in checking passengers months after the 2008 Olympic Games.
Dear Jasmin, surely this is story is a bit of a whitewash with local Chinese language and Hong Kong media detailing the dangerously excessive levels of radiation emitted from the X-ray scanners.
