Super League Champions Hope to Acquire Chelsea Striker
Shanghai Shenhua recently signed a high profile deal with Chelsea Nicolas Anelka. This prompted Super League champion Guangzhou Evergrande to acquire Anelka teammate Chelsea striker Didier Drogba through furious bidding.
Guangzhou Evergrande hopes to match their rival’s new superpower by trying to bring Drogba to China one year ahead of the Asian Champions League. As of now, no comments have been heard from the southern Chinese club. Shanghai Shenhua also hired French coach Jean Tigana who is showing interest in also trying to lure Drogba into playing with Shanghai.
Guangzhou have already signed four new Chinese national players to the team in preparation of defending their Super League title. Guangzhou is part of the Group H or is better known as the group of death which includes Japanese J-League champion Kashiwa and Asian runner up Jeonbuk Hyundai.
