Shops Around Dameisha Beach Park now Using Biodegradable Plastic Bags
Businesses found around Dameisha Beach Park are now using biodegradable bags as part of a coordinated effort with the park managers in hopes to reduce the number of plastic bags found thrown in the areas by more than 2 million visitors a year.
Park managers are trying to control with widespread use of plastic bags around tourist attractions on the east side of Shenzhen where beaches are mostly found are usually littered with plastic bags during the summer season. Tourists have also complained as well saying that the plastic bags have a negative impact on the scenery of the park.
While looking for an alternative solution to the problem, park managers stumbled upon a local high tech fair where a company displayed products ranging from notebooks to plastic bags that were made from biodegradable materials. Manufacturing these products is found to be environmentally friendly and what’s more important is that the products can decompose in six months. The park managers introduced the product to park administrators who quickly decide to use the bags at the beach park.
Shops around the beach have already started using the biodegradable bags and have been well received by shoppers. Although the new bags are slightly heavier and more expensive shop owners are free to choose which kinds of bags to use as long as its pollution free and biodegradable.
