Shenzhen to Host Volvo China Open Next Year
The 20th Volvo Open is set to open in April 24 to 27 2014 at the Genzon Golf Club in Shenzhen. The golf tournament will have a cash prize of more than 20 million yuan and the overall champion will be awarded with more than 3 million yuan in prizes. Three top player have already expressed their intentions in participating in the game namely American Jason Dufner, Englishman Ian Poulter and Swedish Henrik Stenson.
Henrik Stenson climbed the ranks this year and is said to go higher. Stenson said that he had great victories this year and thrilled to join and win the Volvo China Open. Meanwhile Jason Dufner is known for playing with a laid back manner and is also looking forward in coming back to China where golf is gaining popularity. Ian Poulter also said that he is looking forward in competing with the Stenson whom he says is one of his good friend and rival.
The Genzon Gold Club will be providing free training and accommodations to all participating Chinese players that are eligible in the tournament. Furthermore the club will be awarding the same amount of cash prize in the tournament to Chinese players who will win the first five spots in the competition. Genzon welcomes all eligible Chinese players to come and practice in the club as early as possible.
Shenzhen has 14 golf clubs that has more than 1.3 million visitors a year and this will be the second time for Shenzhen to host the tournament.
