City to Play Host for the Hong Kong and China FIFA Qualifying Match
Shenzhen will be hosting the qualifying match between Hong Kong and the Chinese national soccer team for the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Bao’an Stadium this September 3. Last June 16 China defeated Bhutan 6-0 in Thinphu during the first match. The city government recently renovated the Bao’an Stadium and made modifications in the grass and lighting to met the requirements given by FIFA.
To tighten security the game will be using s ID based ticket booking system and only one ticket per ID card will be allowed to be purchased. Seats will be ivied into two zones for fans of each team. Fans are organized for cheering and to encourage team spirit and moral and a matrix will be created consisting of more than 5,000 fans. This will also be the first time Nike is designing the uniforms of the national team.
Around 27,343 tickets will be placed for sale starting this August 18 and 8 percent of the tickets are reserved for Hong Kong residents. The national team is planning to arrive in Shenzhen in August 26 and the final name list of players will be based on the athlete’s health and performance in the Chinese Football Association Super League. China will be competing in Group C with teams coming from Bhutan, Qatar, Hong Kong and Maldives, all of these teams are competing for a place in the FIFA World Cup in Russia in 2018.
