Schools in Shekou Creates an International Education Alliance in Celebration of Teacher’s Day
Schools in Shekou recently launched the Shekou International Education Alliance at Yucai High School during a ceremony that also celebrated Teacher’s Day. Alliance members include five international schools in Shekou and Shekou Yucai Education Group. Yucai is one of the leading education group for locals, and the five international schools are QSI International School of Shenzhen-Shekou, Shenzhen Shekou International School, Korea International School in Shenzhen and Shenzhen American International School.
These alliance members are offering inter school exchange programs to students and these schools are exploring teaching and academic exchanges as well as share educational facilities such as teaching buildings. Although there is a huge disparity between Western and Shenzhen education, they share a lot of common features that open up collaborative possibilities. Each international school got its own characteristics and as more international schools in Shenzhen opens, there will be more cooperation and communication within the schools.
The idea of an alliance was put forward in May, proposed by China Merchants Shekou Industrial Zone Holdings, its launch was led by Chen Nan-xian, founder of Yucai schools, and Ye Yanwu, chief principal of Yucai education group. Furthermore the alliance was established within the background of a budding free trade zone in Shekou, wherein a lot of expatriates are living. Shekou is an area that has the most international education resources as 80 percent of the city’s international schools are found here.
