Well Known University to Open Shenzhen Campus in 2018

Sun Yat-sen University one of the top university in Guangdong will be opening its Shenzhen campus by September 2018, thus bringing another well-known university to the city. Shenzhen mayor Xu Qin and Luo Jun the president of the university recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement that was witnessed by provincial and municipal leaders. The municipal government and the university also agreed in building three affiliated hospitals in Shenzhen with the approval of the university affiliated hospital in Guangzhou.

Based on the agreement, Sun Yat-sen University will be located in Guangming New Area with an area of 3.33 million square meters almost the size of 480 World Cup standard soccer fields. The university will have 20 schools and facilities focusing on medical studies, technology, marine science and engineering schools. The university will have 20,000 students once it opens in September 2018 this will include 12,000 undergraduate students, 8,000 to 12,000 post graduate and doctorate students. The required gaokao scores needed for admission is the same as in the university’s Guangzhou campus.

Sun Yat-sen University is one of the leading universities in China with a history of over a hundred years. the university’s predecessor is the National Guangdong University a educational institution that is founded by Sun Yat-sen the country’s democratic pioneer and Chinese students are required to have high grades to attend in the university. The city witnessed 68 joint higher education projects and some of the universities and institutions are built or being constructed are cooperative projects between Shenzhen government and the international and domestic universities. Other projects include colleges and research centers were also built jointly with local enterprises.
