Experts from Known Universities Shares Knowledge on Information and Communication Applications
Thirty experts coming from renowned universities and institutions around China and abroad are offering their suggestions on the application of information and communication technologies in higher education institutions. During the two day event at the South University of Science and Technology of China that ended yesterday had experts discussing the internationalization of the information and communications technologies with higher learning institutions, typical cases in the ICT applications and ways and methods of the ICT application in higher learning institutions.
The information and communication technology should be widely used in higher education from teaching inside a classroom to on demand research of the industry. Thus solving the asymmetry of what a student studies and what jobs will be available. Based on their observations of the job market and found an interesting contradiction. Graduates can find the right work, but employers can’t find the right jobseekers for their vacancies. Information asymmetry is the cause of differences in education and the demand of the industry, education should be market oriented and should train employees for the future market. Bu its disappointing that the present education falls behind the social and industrial demand much less in advancing the social and industrial development.
Shenzhen is applying to create a higher education innovation center with the cooperation UNESCO and hopes that the center will promote higher education innovation by using advantages in the information industry as they integrate different education resources from home and abroad. The center will further absorb practices of leading universities in the Asia Pacific region that supports higher education in African and Asian countries, thus making the center a platform in promoting higher education in the public in the Asia-Pacific region.
