China to Speed Up the Development of the Artificial Intelligence Sector
China is planning to speed up the development of the artificial intelligence sector and to create a market that is said to be worth around 100 billion yuan in the next three years. according to the National Development and Reform Commission that by 2018, China will be building platforms for fundamental AI resources and innovation to create breakthroughs on basic core technology based on a three year implementation program that is used for Internet Plus artificial intelligence.
The plans is formulated together by the Ministry of Science and Technology, National Development and Reform Omission, the Cyberspace Administration of China and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. According to the website, China will be in line with global AI technology and industries by 2018. Key regions will cultivate some of the global leading AI enterprises and create an innovative, cooperative, open, green and safe AI industrial ecology. China will also cultivate and develop emerging artificial intelligence industries, enhance intelligence levels of terminal products and promote innovation in intelligent products.
Programs involved in key projects such as smart automobiles, intelligent wearable devices, robots, intelligent home appliance and intelligent unmanned systems. Guarantee measures will be offered involving financial support, talents, intellectual property protection and international cooperation. The Internet Plus strategy was unveiled just last year to integrate mobile internet, big data, cloud computing and internet of things with other traditional industries that will fuel economic growth.
